The MURDOCK Study is a community-based research study that oﬀers our community an opportunity to participate in research being conducted by Duke University researchers. Known as the “MURDOCK Study Community Registry and Biorepository,” community residents are invited to participate in exchange for about 30 minutes of time, a small amount of blood and urine, and a brief questionnaire. Over 11,000 people have joined this eﬀort which has been established in the Kannapolis/Cabarrus County region of North Carolina. To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older

The MURDOCK Study is an example of a major research eﬀort that seeks to create a vehicle of data and information that will allow researchers to tap in to answer questions surrounding major diseases and conditions like Alzheimer’s or Multiple Sclerosis. Each of us has the potential to contribute a small amount of time and information to potentially change our understanding of diseases aﬀecting all of us.
